Group Fitness Instructor


The RiseUp Fitness Trainer will lead members through a group class, following a provided, designated workout carefully designed to build fitness while remaining low-impact and safe for all participants. The Trainer will serve as a resource on exercise technique and purpose, and must be able to safely and accurately demonstrate all exercises. The Trainer will work with members to create a positive experience appropriately individualized to suit their needs, while ensuring a motivational and fun atmosphere for all. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, goal-oriented environment without sacrificing quality of service provided to our members

  • Create a motivational and fun environment for all participants

  • Arrive 15 minutes ahead or more of class start time to set up and check in members, answer questions, and introduce and orient first time participants

  • Introduce yourself and accurately explain the workout and format to the class

  • Make sure all verbal instructions are clear and that the volume, tempo of music, and overall atmosphere is conducive to a fun and engaging class

  • Continually monitor participants to ensure all participants are using correct form (including demonstrating exercises) and when necessary offer variations to accommodate ability and fitness levels

  • Remain in class up to 15 minutes or more after scheduled end time to interact with members, tidy up facility, and store all equipment neatly and appropriately.

  • Stay up to date with current promotions and be able to accurately announce and explain them to members

  • Attend necessary instructor trainings and team meetings

  • Instructors must be dependable and consistent in their class schedules - anyone committing to teach a class should make all arrangements so that substitutes or cancellations are a rare occurrence

  • Maintain a positive and professional attitude towards his/her responsibilities, fellow employees, and members

  • Comply with all of RiseUp Fitness policies and procedures

Preferred Qualifications and Requirements

  • A minimum of 6 months experience in taking group exercise activities is recommended

  • Prior experience in group fitness and or personal training is preferred

  • Current nationally recognized group fitness certification or specialty class certificate is a plus

  • Knowledge of safe exercise techniques and principles

  • Must be outgoing, energetic, and able to “perform” in front of an audience

  • Provide exceptional customer service to help build a loyal client base

  • Ability to communicate and deal with a diverse array of individuals

  • Be punctual and exhibit a positive attitude

  • Project a professional image

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

  • Physical effort required for daily duties include lifting weights, squatting, bending, reaching, spotting, and prolonged standing and walking

  • Current CPR /AED certification required

Pay Rate
$25-$50 per class based on experience plus commission bonuses
