How many times have these clickbait headlines (or reels) tried to convince you that you’re doing everything wrong for your nutritional health?
Headline 1: “Eat at least 300g of protein a day to lose fat and gain muscle! Try my brand-new protein powder!”
(Usually features a highly muscular influencer flexing!)
Headline 2: “If you’re not taking supplements (available on my Amazon storefront!), then you’ll lose your hair and your skin will fall off!”
(Usually features an influencer with several filters to make them look impossibly flawless.)
Headline 3: “Fruit will make your blood sugar spike - eat only butter for breakfast instead! Not sure where to start? Grab my e-book for $120!”
(Usually features an influencer showing a flat stomach prominently in tight gym clothes.)
Some of these may sound more ridiculous than others, but unfortunately, they are the product of an industry that pays billions of dollars to get YOU to consume, watch, and PAY for things that don’t work, you don’t need, or that could even cause you harm.
How could they be causing you harm? Much of the nutrition advice has not been vetted by science, the supplements are unregulated and often unnecessary, and many diets rely on shock value alone for views.
While not all content creators are trying to sell you nonsense, a lot of them have to in order to get views and make money – why? The truth of good nutritional health doesn’t require you to buy their products or click their links. In general, it is relatively simple, and not terribly “sexy!”
Good nutrition is about consistently fueling your body with good, real food that is packed with nutrients. While that is simple - we understand that it’s not always clear or easy.
We created the Simple30 program to not only make science-backed nutritional advice available, but also to make establishing those habits simple, repeatable, and motivational. We do it together - in real life - so you feel good knowing that you’re taking care of your body and health.
Join us for our next Simple30 program and we’ll motivate each other to put good in, and get good out!
