Can you guess the number one reason I hear for why someone falls short of their health and fitness goals?
You guessed it….. “I just don’t have time to work out!”
And I get it, life is busy!
It’s filled with demanding jobs, commuting, family, kids, errands, chores, and hopefully even sleep.
But let’s take a step back here and do a quick time audit.
There are 168 hours in a week.
So let’s say…
You work 50 hours a week
You sleep 8 hours a night (56 hours)
You spend 1 hour a day commuting (7 hours)
You spend 2 hours a day with family (14 hours)
You spend 1 hour a day on additional kid activities (7 hours)
You spend 5 hours a week on errands
You spend 4 hours a week on chores
And just for fun… You spend 5 hours a week watching Netflix.
Guess how much time you’re left with…
20 additional hours of “free time”!
Are you telling me that you can’t find 3 of those 20 hours to work out?
After all, it only takes 3 hours of exercise per week (if done correctly) to drastically improve your physical health and fitness. Not to mention your mental health!
I’m not saying it’s easy, and you may need to:
Work out early (even if you don’t like to)
Work out late (even if you don’t like to)
Workout on the weekends (even if you don’t like to)
Watch less TV
Spend less time on social media
Rearrange your schedule
Ask someone to watch the kids
Etc. etc. etc.
But 3 hours a week is only 1.8% of your total time.
That’s not a huge ask for something that has the following benefits (according to the Mayo Clinic):
Helps control your weight
Combats health conditions and diseases
Improves mood
Boosts energy
Promotes better sleep
Puts the spark back into your intimate life
Can be fun and social!
The truth is that everyone has time to work out, but as I explained, it’s not JUST about having the time to work out.
It’s about MAKING the time to work out.
If you make the time to work out, I promise you it will drastically improve the quality of your life!
